From India to Germany: A New Adventure
Picture this: Two excited Indians, fresh off the plane in Berlin, armed with dreams, a couple of suitcases, and absolutely zero idea how to get their washing machine fixed. That was me - Sahil. I talked about the struggles with an old friend who moved with me. Guess what? even he was frustated by it - this was Anuj.
Back home in India, getting things done was easy. Need a plumber? Your neighbor knows a guy. AC not working? The building watchman has three numbers saved. Groceries? Someone would deliver them before you finished making the list. But here in Germany? Cricket sounds 🦗
Fun Fact: The Great Washing Machine Crisis of 2023
It took us 3 weeks, 7 Google translations, and 4 failed attempts before we finally got someone to fix our washing machine. By then, we had become experts at hand-washing jeans in the bathtub. Not our proudest moment! 😅
Then came the game-changer: our beautiful baby arrived! 👶✨
Suddenly, we were not just two people struggling with adulting in a new country. We were two zombie-like creatures surviving on 2 hours of sleep, trying to figure out how to keep a tiny human alive while also remembering to keep themselves alive. (Showering became a luxury. True story.)
The Wake-Up Call (or Lack Thereof)
Between diaper changes, feeding schedules that made no sense, and trying to decode what each different cry meant, we realized something profound:
We were spending more time managing household chores than enjoying our precious little one.
And that felt wrong. Very, very wrong.
One particularly exhausting evening (okay, every evening was exhausting), after spending 2 hours trying to find someone to clean our apartment, we had an epiphany over cold pizza at 11 PM:
Why is finding help so hard? There must be others like us!
Spoiler alert: There were. LOTS of them.

Where We Are Today
TaskPanda started in Berlin (because that is where our washing machine broke), but the vision is bigger. We are building something that can help people in cities across Germany and beyond.
Our baby is now a toddler who thinks the vacuum cleaner is a toy (thanks to all the cleaning help we have gotten!), and we have actually had time to sleep, eat proper meals, and remember what it feels like to be humans again.
But here is the best part: We have helped hundreds of other families do the same.
